Phase 3 student midwife

In 2020 I felt the call from God to become a midwife. I didn’t get started apprenticing with my preceptor until December 2021. Then during the course of my student career, I’ve taken a couple breaks to have children. Then, I started working in July 2025 as a phase 3 student midwife. I’ve working with 2 preceptors in Northeast Tennessee to complete the requirements for NARM to sit for the exam. I will take families on as their midwife after I become licensed in the state of TN.

Tri-Cities Home Birth

Wendy Owens with Tri-Cities Home Birth is another one of my preceptors.

My observes were doula births, which I had plenty of before I started my midwifery apprenticeship. Phase 2 births took me from January 2022 to June 2025. I took a couple breaks for my own family’s sake. The pace has been slow, but supportive for my family. I haven’t had to put midwifery before my own family at this slow pace and that feels really good. I could go faster, but at what expense? My own family. My first ministry God gave me is my own household before it’s anyone elses. I’m not perfect at it, but it is my goal.
